TOWING
HOME

Alex Currie was raised on his family's farm.  At a young age, he began an apprenticeship toward his auto mechanic's license.  On December 20th 1949, he purchased his first garage, providing gasoline sales and auto repairs.  This business grew rapidly, and in order to better service his customers, Alex traded his car for a PTO-driven winch and commenced to build himself a tow truck.
The key to the success of the business in the beginning years and those thereafter, was the commitment to ensuring the satisfaction of all customers.  This standard allowed the growth that Alex has enjoyed from his original location to the current 40,000 square foot facility located in Barrie.
Over the past 50 years, Alex has dedicated his time to serving the local citizens of the area in which he was raised.  He was elected to council for the Village of Elmvale, where he was a member for 13 years.  He served as Deputy Fire Chief of the Elmvale Volunteer Fire Department for a period of 28 years.  Alex also worked with both the Elmvale Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge.
Although these activities, and the commitment to ensuring the success and expansion of the business took a great deal of time, Alex's priorities have always remained focused on his family.  Alex raised his three children -- Don, Glenn, and Heidi -- demonstrating good business practices and values.  Today, each own and continue to expand the separate companies which he established.
Today, and for the past 50 plus years, Alex enjoys the challenge created
by recovering heavy vehicle incidents.  Alex's modern fleet and commitment to the heavy towing and recovery industry, as well as his dedication to honest, professional service has gained him respect in both Canada and the United Sates.  In 1987, he was honoured by his fellow industry leaders with a nomination and subsequent induction into the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame.
